You will be met and transferred to your hotel. We then have a tour briefing, before a one hour cyclo ride around the Old & the French quarter of Hanoi. Dinner at a nice local restaurant.

Hanoi
Morning city tour visiting Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, Residence, Museum and One Pillar Pagoda. Continue on to the Temple of Literature built in the 11th century as Vietnam's first University. Lunch at KOTO. In the evening see the Water Puppet Show, the unique Vietnamese traditional art. Dinner at a nice local restaurant.

This morning there will be a tour to the Ethnology Museum and the Army Museum. A short walk around the Old quarter before before lunch at a local restaurant. The rest of the day will be free at leisure.

Hanoi - Halong
Depart Hanoi for Halong Bay, considered the Eighth Wonder of the World, listed as a World Heritage area of outstanding natural beauty. "Dragon Descending to the Sea" as it is known in Vietnamese, picturesque Halong Bay has more than 2,000 limestone islets rising from the clear emerald water, many of them containing beautiful grottoes. Arrive Halong, a five hour boat trip, we will visit one grotto, then continue to explore more of these wonders of creation. Seafood lunch on board. Dinner at the hotel.

Halong - Hanoi - Hue
Transfer to the Hanoi Airport for our flight to Hue. Hue is the royal city of Vietnam's last ruling dynasty. On arrival transfer to the hotel for check-in. Lunch will be at a nice local cafe Mandarin. In the afternoon there is a one hour cyclo tour around the Citadel and the city of Hue. Dinner at a local restaurant "Imperial Park".

Hue
Morning tour visit to the Citadel, a city inside a big wall which was built by Nguyen Emperors from 1804-1833. Bus to Thien Mu Pagoda then a boat trip on the Perfume River back to the hotel. Mid afternoon we will visit the tomb of Khai Dinh, the second last Emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty which reigned the country from 1916-1925 then the tomb of Tu Duc, the fourth Emperor of the same dynasty which reigned the country from 1848-1883. A special imperial dinner at a nice local restaurant.

Hue - Hoian
Leave Hue for Hoian, a beautiful drive along the road passing through many pretty re-tiled villages with fruit orchards, enjoy spectacular views of sky and sea, crossing the interesting Hai Van Pass (Pass of the Ocean Clouds). A drive through Danang, a famous R & R city for the Americans in the Vietnam War with a stop at famous China Beach and the area of five Marble Mountains. Lunch at a local restaurant in Hoian "Ly Cafe".
After lunch there is a guided walking tour of historic Hoian town, which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to18th centuries. It's sizeable community of foreign merchants resulted in a unique architectural style with Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences. In the last 15 years, Hoian has been known as the 'tailor capital of Vietnam with hundreds of tailor, art, souvenir shops near the hotel and in the town.

Hoian - Saigon
Transfer to the Danang Airport for our flight to Saigon. Arrive Saigon with a tour visit to fascinating tunnel networks built by the Viet Cong in the war, a nice 65Km drive through rubber & tapioca plantations. Pho (traditional Vietnamese noodle soup) & spring rolls will be for lunch. Check into the hotel.
Later we have a short walk around downtown Saigon passing the Town Hall, Opera House, Notre Damme Cathedral & the Post Office. Dinner at a nice restaurant.

Saigon - Mekong Delta
A coach trip to My Tho (a two hour drive form Ho Chi Minh City), the gateway to the Mekong Delta, a prosperous town in the Mekong Delta. It is famous for its extensive orchards and immense rice fields. Enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong River, stopping to visit an orchard on one of the small islands, sampan ride along a natural canal, you will also visit a coconut workshop and bee-keeping farm and lunch at the farmer's house. Return to Saigon late afternoon, on the way driving through China-Town.

Saigon - Airport
Morning at leisure. Depart hotel at 1.00pm for a farewell lunch. This is followed by a visit to the Former Presidential Palace (Re-unification Palace), War Remnans Museum.
Transfer to the airport for flight TG 687, departing at 8:50pm and arriving in Bangkok at 10:15pm.
Brisbane passengers will be transferred to a hotel in the airport area.
Sydney passengers depart Bangkok at 11:59pm on TG 995, arriving in Sydney at 12 noon the next day (07.07.09).

Melbourne passengers depart Bangkok at 12:15am on TG 981, arriving in Melbourne at 12:05pm.
Brisbane passengers will be transferred back to Bangkok Airport, departing at 8:00am on TG 991, and arriving in Brisbane at 10:45pm.
Note:

For Brisbane passengers there will be an extra charge of $75 per person twin share or $110 single room for the overnight accommodation & return airport transfers.

Airport taxes and levies at present total an additional amount of approximately $485. We have no control over this price and it is subject to change.

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travels Vietnam Highlights Tour
Deposits and Payments
A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. 
Refunds and Cancellations
Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.
Insurance
Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.
Passports
All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.
Visas are required for Australian passport holders to Vietnam. Visa fee for Vietnam is $72.00 and we charge $20.00 for processing.  For those doing the Cambodian extension, a visa is also required and can be obtained upon arrival at Siem Reap airport.
Not  Included in the Cost
All items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary), etc. Also travel insurance and departure taxes. Australian airport tax must now be paid with your ticket, and comes to $485 at present for the standard tour. ****Please note that these taxes are subject to change.****
Booking through other Agents
As we keep the cost of out tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affiars (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.
Health and Fitness
Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.
Limitation of Liability
As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
