19.09.11 Sydney -Los Angeles
Depart Melbourne at 7.45am on VA817, arriving in Sydney at 9.05am.
Both Melbourne and Sydney passengers depart Sydney at 10.45am on VA 1, arriving in Los Angeles at 7.20am the same day (You cross the International Date Line). 
Depart Brisbane at 10.20am on VA7 arriving in Los Angeles at 6.25.am.
You will be met at the airport & transferred to your Los Angeles Hotel.

21.09.11 Los Angeles
Another free day for your own exploration. Visit Hollywood and the Hollywood History Museum, located in the old Max Factor Building. Stroll down Olvera Street, the heart of the original Spanish Mission, or visit the Getty Center with its wonderful art collection. Take a tour around Universal Studios or spend the day at magical Disneyland.
22.09.11 Los Angeles-Palm Springs-Scottsdale
Begin the day with a sightseeing tour of the world's "Capital of Glamour" including a drive through Hollywood and famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre. A stop in the desert oasis of Palm Springs with its distinctive wind farms, 5000 swimming pools, and 90 golf courses! This afternoon, head to the mountain ringed desert resort of Scottsdale.

The morning is free for independent activities. You may choose to join the optional four-wheel drive jeep tour, where you will experience incredible views of backcountry Arizona in specially equipped open air jeeps. Afterward, there will be a Phoenix sightseeing tour that highlights downtown Phoenix , the Arizona State Capitol Building, and an included visit to the Heard Museum, where exhibit galleries feature a variety of historic, traditional, and contemporary Native American art. Next, experience Old Town Scottsdale, where Western storefronts provide a window into the past. The remainder of the day is at leisure in Scottsdale to shop or relax. Early this evening join our optional outing to relive the days of the Wild West.

Travel to Sedona, a thriving center for New Age arts set in Canyon Country. On to the weather sculptured rock formations of Oak Creek Canyon. Alongside the San Francisco Mountains and beautiful pine forests to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Time to stroll the canyon rim. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, take our optional helicopter flightseeing excursion for incomparable views of flame-coloured walls plunging 6000 feet into the Colorado River.

Flagstaff- Las Vegas
After the included breakfast. Leave the mountain town of Flagstaff on historic Route 66 and cross the old Mojave gold strike country, which still bears traces of century-old ghost towns set in natural desert beauty. Watch for Joshua trees, a species of the lily family that grows more than 40 feet in height and can live up to 300 years. By late afternoon, reach Las Vegas, the fantastic city of feverish gambling, neon lights, bars,and glamorous shows. Be sure to explore some of the many themed casino resorts along the colourful "Strip".

The morning and afternoon are free for you to swim and sunbathe at the hotel pool or explore the varied casinos, shopping plazas, and amusement parks. Your Tour Director will have more suggestions to fill your day. Consider a river float trip through the Black Canyon.
27.09.11 Las Vegas- Tulare
A day of striking natural contrasts as the journey continues across the desert landscape of Nevada before crossing into California. Overnight in Tulare, located in the heart of San Joaquin Valley.
28.09.11 Tulare- Yosemite National Park - Sonora
Enter Yosemite National Park, a wonderland of spectacular lakes, giant granite domes, towering pinnacles, cascading waterfalls, and lush forests. It's a beautiful drive from the park to Sonora, once a thriving center in the Gold Rush era. 
29.09.11 Sonora- Sacramento-San Francisco
Head toward Sacramento, capital of California, with time to explore Old Sacramento. "Old Town", as the locals call it, features a Wild West ambiance. During your visit, see the country's biggest collection of Gold Rush-era buildings, Wells Fargo museum, and a historic Railroad Museum, From Old Town, continue west to reach San Francisco by early afternoon. Cross the splendid bay with vistas of San Francisco skyline and magnificent  harbor. On your city tour, see the main sights, including the renowned Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf and Nob Hill.

This morning, visit the famous and fascinating Alcatraz Prison. Get a close-up look at the infamous federal penitentiary that was off limits to the public for years. Afterward, the day is yours to do some more exploring in the "City by the Bay."

Another day to explore the regularly voted "Best City in the USA." San Francisco is a visual feast that offers something for every eye. A visit to the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park- one of the largest man-made parks in the world-is a must. Then, there is Grant Street, the city's oldest road running the length of Chinatown, and Haight-Ashbury, which rekindles memories of "Flower Power" and the "Beat Generation."

Transfer to San Francisco Airport. for your morning flight to New York .Welcome to the "Big Apple!" Enjoy time at leisure to relax or do some independent exploring. Your Tour Director is on hand this evening to answer any questions.
03.10.11 New York City- Boston
This morning, on the included sightseeing tour with a local expert, visit Broadway, the Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, City Hall, Wall Street and Trinity Church. This afternoon, head for Boston - the "Cradle Of American Liberty." Visit its historical landmarks, reflecting the important part it has played in the history of the United States.

On your morning guided tour of Boston, see Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church (where Paul Revere was signaled for the departure of British troops to Lexington), and Boston Common. This afternoon is free for you to explore on your own. Your Tour Director will have suggestions for additional sightseeing and shopping.
05.10.11 Boston- Quebec City
Journey north through New Hampshire, passing the state's capitol dome at Concord and on the scenic White Mountains. Continue on to the Canadian border, where you'll notice a sudden change in language and tradition as you enter the French- Canadian province of Quebec. Overnight in historic Quebec City, which built on the banks of the mighty St. Lawrence River.

Begin the day with a guided tour of Canada's only walled city, crowned by the turrets of the Chateau Frontenac. Until the British victory of 1759, Old Quebec was the center of New France and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site today. Within the walls reside the Place d' Armes; the Laval Seminary, the star-plan Citadelle with grand vistas from its bastions;and ancient Place Royale. See the Old World houses crowding narrow streets in Lower Town and the historic Plains of Abraham, where General Wolfe stormed the slopes. The afternoon is at leisure.

Today, drive to cosmopolitan Montreal, one of the world's largest French -speaking cities. Home of Expo '67 and the 1976 Summer Olympics, this afternoon 's including sightseeing tour include's St. Joseph's Oratory, the lookout atop Mount Royal, once -walled Old Montreal, Notre Dame Church, the Seminary of St. Sulpice built by the first missionary settlers, and modern Montreal.

Travel south along the lakeshore and through rich farmlands and vineyards of Ontario to Niagara Falls.Stop at Table Rock and hear the raging waters. Then, board the Maid Of The Mist for amazing close-ups at the base of the falls.
Note: The operation of the Maid Of The Mist cruise is subject to favorable weather conditions.When weather is unfavorable, a walking tour through scenic tunnels will be substituted.

Leave Canada today and head southeast through the Appalachian Mountains and along a portion of the Susquehanna River into Pennsylvania Dutch farm country.
13.10.11 Lancaster-Penn Dutch Country-Washington DC
Lancaster County is the home of the religious Amish and Mennonite sects. This morning, stop at the Amish Farm & House. A local guide explains the faith,culture, and way of life of these people for whom tradition forbids the use of electricity or telephones in the home. On to Washington DC for an afternoon arrival.

Your half -day guided tour features the Korean and Vietnam War Veterans Memorials, and many other well-known sights. You'll also stop for photos at the White House and Capitol Hill. Then, cross the Potomac River and see the graves of American heroes- including John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert , and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis-in beautiful Arlington Cemetery.

This morning, drive to Philadelphia, the birthplace of the U.S., where an orientation tour focuses on the historic significance of the city. Afterward, leave for New York City.

The "Big Apple" beckons. New York has it all, from Broadway shows to museums, shopping, and great restaurants.
Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Los Angeles.
Melbourne passengers depart L.A at 8.50pm on VA12, arriving in Melbourne at 6.15am 18.10.11 (you recross the International Date Line).
Sydney and Brisbane passengers depart L.A at 10.10pm on VA2, arriving in Sydney at 7.15am on 18.10.11.

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's U.S. West Coast and Eastern U.S. & Canada Autumn Leaves Tour
Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $600.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable in full 12 weeks prior to departure. 

Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance - Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports - All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Some Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.
A visas waver is required for travel to the United States if America for all Australian passport holders The cost of the visa waiver is US$14.00 per person. 

Not  Included in the Cost - All items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary), etc. Also travel insurance.

Basic Tour Price & Taxes  - Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price as air taxes and levies change regularly  the exact amount will be advised at the time of invoicing. At the present  the amount for taxes and levies is $450.

Breakaway Fee
All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set  itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.

Booking through other Agents - As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Health and Fitness -Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Limitation of Liability - As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
