12.10.11 Australia - Bangkok
Depart Sydney at 11.00am on TG 476, arriving in Bangkok at 4.30pm.
Depart Brisbane at 2.00pm on TG 474, arriving in Bangkok at 8.20pm.
Depart Melbourne at 4.00pm on TG 466, arriving in Bangkok at 9.30pm.
All flights will be met and transferred to the centrally situated Sofitel Silom Bangkok Hotel for a three night stay in their luxury club sofitel rooms. Guests are entitled to the following privileges.

There will be a morning tour to see the beautiful flower market, and a cruise of Bangkok's Klong's including a visit to the Royal Barges Museum. Lunch today will be at a wonderful buffet at the famous Oriental Hotel's Riverside Restaurant.

Late morning departure from hotel to visit Jim Thompson's House, a Thai style teak wood house with beautiful grounds and crammed with beautiful and valued antiques. Tonight there will be a dinner cruise on the Chao Phrya River.

River Kwai
This morning we travel through to the River Kwai. We inspect the allied war cemetry where many Australians are buried. Then there is time to inspect and walk across the infamous bridge before we have lunch at a restaurant overlooking the bridge. Next we travel out to a boat landing where we have a long-tail boat ride on the River Kwai to the Jungle Rafts Hotel floating on the River Kwai. This is fascinating accommodation, but quite basic with no electricity. We inspect a Mon Hill Tribe village situated beside the rafts and at night we witness a display of vigorous Mon tradition dancing.

Cha'am
This morning we drive through to Hua Hin, the Thai beach resort on the Gulf of Siam where the Thai King has his holiday residence. En route we stop at Petchaburi Beach for lunch.
We stop at and inspect the interesting teakwood palace of King Rama VI. We then travel on to the Sofitel Centara Hotel for a two night stay.
Tonight there will be a seafood and chicken dinner at a lovely overwater restaurant.

Cha'am
Today there is a tour to Petch Dam and Lake. Morning scenic drive to Petch Dam. First stop is at a meditation centre with a huge lady Buddha statue. Then we board a long tail boat for a two and a half hour boat tour on the lake created by the dam, viewing beautiful national park country with small scattered Karen hill-tribe settlements. We stop on a small island and inspect its interesting temple. We then do a short walking circumvention of the island to see its interesting statues. We next have lunch at a lovely restaurant overlooking in the lake, before returning to Cha'am.

Cha'am - Bangkok
This morning we head back to Bangkok. First stop is at an interesting Buddist Temple, set in a huge natural cave. We then travel through to the Rose Garden where we have a great international lunch, inspect the beautiful grounds and view their internationally famous cultural show. After this we travel through to Bangkok, staying at the Amari Don Muang hotel for one night.

Bangkok - Ayuttaya - Phitsanalook
We travel to Ayuttaya, Thailand's former capital that was sacked by the Burmese in the 18th century. Here we visit Ayuttaya's World Heritage Historial Park with its extensive ruins. Then on to Lopburi for lunch, followed by a visit to the Monkey Temple where hundreds of monkeys run wild over the temple and the surrounding city. This is followed by a visit to an interesting museum situated in a former palace. We then travel to Phitsanalook for an overnight stay at the Topland Hotel set in a large shopping centre.

Phitsanalook - Sukothai - Chiang Mai
First we visit Phitsanalook's local market to enjoy its sights, sounds and smells. Then to Sukothai, the ancient capital with its UNESCO sponsored historical park of ancient ruins dating back to the 14th century. Next we visit some ancient pottery kilns, which have been left in the same condition as they were when discovered and excavated by archaeologists. Then we have lunch at a rustic restaurant beside the River Si Sachinali. We then visit a modern temple known as 'The Soldiers Temple' which is so breathtakingly beautiful that many regard it as being the most beautiful temple in the world. We then drive to Chiang Mai for a 3 night stay, staying at the centrally situated Shangri-La Hotel staying at the Horizon Club Delux rooms with the following benefits;

In the morning we visit Chiang Mai's famous handicraft factories, seeing such things as the manufacturing of jewelery, Thai silk, paper umbrellas, etc. The included lunch is at a beautiful teakwood restaurant.

In the morning we travel into the rural areas to see a display of elephants at work. Then we inspect a beautiful orchid nursey, followed by lunch. In the evening we will have traditional Thai Kantoke dinner with a wonderful display of traditional Thai dancing, followed by a short display of hill-tribe folk dancing.

This morning we head north to Thanton, near the Burmese border. Here we have lunch. We then take long-tailed boats for a three hour boat trip down the Kok river to Chiang Rai. On the way we stop at some hot springs and see a hill-tribe village. We have a two night stay at the Legend Chiang Mai Riverside Resort for 2 nights.

Today we visit the Queen Mother's beautiful mountain-top gardens. Then we travel to the Golden Triangle area where we have lunch included and inspect the Opium Museum before returning to Chiang Rai.

Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai
Today we drive back to Chiang Mai by the scenic road. Depart Chiang Mai airport at 12.40pm on TG 129, arriving in Phuket at 2.35pm. Transfer to the Millenium Resort Patong Beach Hotel for 3 nights.
Tonight we view the Phuket Fantasia Show. This is a spectacular Las Vegas-type show with state of the art technology and special effects enhancing the grace and beauty of Thai Myths.

Full day tour to Phang Nga Bay. 100km coach trip to Phang Nga Bay. Here we go to the boat pier where we join a boat trip through one of the most spectacular parts of Thailand. Hundreds of odd-shaped limestone formations rise from the water often covered with tropical vegetation, some of them are just tiny rock, other from large islands. We circumnavigate one called 'James Bond Island' - the place where 'The Man with the Golden Gun' was filmed. We visit the Muslim village of Koh Panyl, which is built on stilts out on the open sea. Here we have a delicious seafoood lunch before returning to the mainland and coach back to Phuket.

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's Thailand Luxury Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable in full 8 weeks prior to departure.

Refunds and Cancellations
- Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance -
Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports -
All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia. Visas are not required for Thailand if travelling on an Australian passport.

Basic Tour Price and Taxes -
Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price, and as air taxes and fuel levies change regularly  the exact amount will be advised at time of invoicing. At present air taxes and fuel levies come to $140 for the standard tour. Total tour cost may therefore change.

Breakaway Fee
All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set  itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.

Not  Included in the Cost -
Travel insurance, visas and all items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals (except those specified in the itinerary), etc. are not included in the cost.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Booking through other Agents
- As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.

Health and Fitness -
 Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Limitation of Liability -
As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
