15.10.10 Australia - Bangkok
Depart Melbourne at 12.30am (check in by 10.30pm on 14.10.10) on TG 462 arriving in Bangkok at 6.00am.
Depart Sydney at 11.00am on TG 476, arriving in Bangkok at 4.30pm.
Depart Brisbane at 2.00pm on TG 474, arriving in Bangkok at 8.20pm.
All flights will be met and transferred to your 5 star Conrad Hotel in central Bangkok, you will be staying in the Executive Rooms on the Executive floor with access to the Hotel's Executive Lounge. At this hotel all the following are included:

Late morning departure from hotel to visit Jim Thompson's House, a Thai style teak wood house with beautiful grounds and crammed with beautiful and valued antiques. This is followed by lunch at a great Thai Restaurant in Siam Square. Afternoon is free.

There will be a morning tour to see the beautiful flower market, and a cruise of Bangkok's Klong's including a visit to the Royal Barges Museum. Tonight there will be a dinner cruise on the Chao Phaya River.

Bangkok - Ayuttaya
We visit Ayuttaya's world heritage historic park with its extensive ruins. Then onto Lopburi for lunch, followed by a visit to the monkey temple where hundreds of wild monkeys run wild over the temple and surrounding city. Lunch is at a great garden restaurant. This is followed by a visit to an interesting museum situated in a former palace.We then travel to Phitsanalook for an overnight stay.

Ayuttaya - Chiang Mai
First we travel to Phitsanalook's large bustling market, next we travel to Sukothai, the ancient capital with its UNESCO sponsored historic park of ancient ruins dating back to the 14th century. Then we have lunch at a rustic restaurant beside the river in Si Sachinali. After lunch we visit the spectacular soldiers temple - possibly the world's most beautiful temple. We then drive to Chiang Mai, staying at the Royal Princess Hotel situated in the middle of Chiang Mai's famous night market, for a 3 night stay.

Chiang Mai
In the morning we visit Chiang Mai's famous handicraft factories, seeing such things as the manufacture of silverware, Thai silk, paper umbrella etc. Lunch is at a beautiful teak wood restaurant. The afternoon is free to explore Chiang Mai, the city that everybody loves. Dinner tonight is at the Princess Hotel's award winning Chinese restaurant.

Today we go to the rural areas to see a wonderful display of elephants at work. We then inspect a lovely orchid nursery and have lunch . This evening we will attend a presentation of classical Thai Dancing and will partake of a typical northern Thai Banquet.

Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Song - Chiang Mai
Today is one of the highlights of the tour. Transfer to Chiang Mai Airport, departing at 10.20am on TG 190, arriving in Mae Hong Song at 10.55am. En-route to our lovely resort hotel, we inspect a fascinating Burmese style temple. Mae Hong Song is situated close to the Burmese border and the area has some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Thailand.

(Note: big luggage is left in storage at the Chiang Mai Hotel - only take an overnight bag to Mae Hong Song).

We go by mini-van out into the country to an elephant camp. From here we ride the elephants through the jungle and across the river to a river landing from there we take a half hour long tail boat ride, we then rejoin our mini-vans for a beautiful scenic drive to the Burmese border where we inspect a large village of long necked (giraffe women) Karen people, who wear many brass rings around their elongated necks. If there is time we will visit Mae Hong Song's market before going  back to our hotel for an overnight stay. Dinner will be at the hotel.

Mae Hong Song - Chiang Mai
Another exciting day. We start by visiting the Tham Pla Forest Park. The Tham Pla Forest Park which surrounds the lovely Fish Caves where a small stream emerges from the base of the hill. The stream is filled with fish that can grow up to three feet long! The fish are quite safe as they are believed to be sacred. The park is a serene place with trees lining the stream and excellent amenities for visitors. 
Next we visit a mud beauty bath where everyone who wishes can enjoy this unique treatment.
Next we visit a beautiful waterfall before travelling onto a unique village. Baan Rak Thai or 'The Thai Loving Village", located in Mae Aw is about 30 kilometres away from the provincial capital of Mae Hong Son near the Thai-Myanmar border. It is one of the three Chinese villages found in northern Thailand. Founded by Kuomintang (Chinese Nationalist Party) Chinese soldiers, the people in the village still preserve their unique Chinese culture and traditions, living in distinctive mud-brick houses.
We have lunch at the village where we eat typical Yunnan (South China) food. After lunch we inspect the picturesque tea plantation found in this area. We then return to Mae Hong Song Airport, departing at 5.15pm on TG 197, arriving in Chiang Mai at 5.50pm. Transfer back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai
Today we head north to Thaton on the northern border with Burma. Here we have lunch before boarding our long-tail boats for a scenic 3 hour boat ride to Chiang Rai. During the trip we stop to see some hot springs and an interesting hill tribe village. We then proceed to the boat landing of the 5 Star Hotel for a two night stay.

Chiang Rai
Today we have a coach tour of the beautiful Golden Triangle area. We travel to the Thailand/Burma border and inspect the opium museum. We have lunch at a nice restaurant on the bank of the Mekong. We have a long tail boat ride on the mighty Mekong where Thailand, Laos & Burma meet. We then return to Chiang Rai.

Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai - Phuket
Drive back to Chiang Mai by a scenic road. Depart Chiang Mai Airport at 12.35pm on TG 129, arriving in Phuket at 2.30pm. Transfer to the 5 Star Millennium Resort at Patong Beach, Phuket for a four night stay.
The resort is located in Phuket's main tourist area and is in close proximity to Jungceylon Shopping Complex and Bangla Street. Bangla Street is considered the most popular street in Patong and is home to a large concentration of bars and pubs. This Phuket Resort is also a five minutes walk to the most popular beach in the area, Patong Beach, that is considered by many to be a must visit attraction.

A full day tour to Phang Nga Bay. 100 km coach trip to Phang Nga Bay. Here we go to the boat pier where we join a boat trip through one of the most spectacular parts of Thailand. Hundreds of odd shaped limestone formations rise from the water often covered with tropical vegetation, some of them are just tiny rocks, others form large islands. We circumnavigate one called "James Bond Island", the place where the man with the Golden Gun was filmed. We visit the Muslim village of Koh Panyl, which is built on stilts out on the open sea. Here we have a delicious seafood lunch before returning to the mainland and coach back to Phuket.

Brisbane passengers will be transferred to a hotel in the Bangkok Airport area for an overnight stay.
31.10.10 Bangkok - Melbourne & Brisbane
Melbourne passengers depart Bangkok at 12.15am, arriving in Melbourne at 1.05pm.
Brisbane passengers will be transferred back to Bangkok Airport, departing at 7.55am on TG 471, arriving in Brisbane at 10.45pm.

Note:
For Brisbane passengers there is an extra charge of $70.00 per person twin share or $140 single room for the extra nights accommodation in Bangkok.

                                                Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's Thailand Luxury Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable in full 8 weeks prior to departure.

Refunds and Cancellations
- Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance -
Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports -
All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia. Visas are not required for Thailand if travelling on an Australian passport.

Basic Tour Price and Taxes -
Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price, and as air taxes and fuel levies change regularly  the exact amount will be advised at time of invoicing. At present air taxes and fuel levies come to $455 for the standard tour. Total tour cost may therefore change.

Breakaway Fee
All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set  itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.

Not  Included in the Cost -
Travel insurance, visas and all items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals (except those specified in the itinerary), etc. are not included in the cost.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Booking through other Agents
- As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.

Health and Fitness -
 Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Limitation of Liability -
As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
