Kuala Lumpur
This morning depart for a full day tour to the Lanchang Elephant Camp. The Asian elephant is currently listed as an endangered species. As agricultural development encroached into the once forested areas, the elephants' ancestral foraging ground became smaller and smaller. Consequently some of these elephants began foraging into new farming areas creating tension between man and beast, hence a translocation unit was formed to track, capture and release these gentle giants into larger and safer forest reserves in Malaysia. The Elephant Camp also acts as one stop education and conservation centre aimed at creating awareness and educating the general public about the Asian elephants and its problems. Upon arrival, the visitor centre will provide a video presentation on how the trans-located elephants are subdued, captured and then released into their new homes. To date, they have successfully relocated more than 500 wild elephants.  Half of these are used to assist in the translocation work while the remaining ones are trained to interact with visitors. Enjoy the unique experience and excitement of being up close with elephants. Visitors can also bathe with the elephants in a nearby river. Please remember to bring along an extra change of clothes and a  towel.
Return to our hotel in the evening.

St Francis Xavier was a religious head to Malacca during the Portuguese administration. Next visit is to the Stadhuys - 1641 to 1660 - also known as the "Red Square" due to the salmon pink colour of the building. When the Portuguese lost the war to the Dutch, the Stadhuys was built.
