If you do not have a travel partner, but wish to travel at twin-share rates, we will match you up with someone else in the same position. If you require a single room, there will be an additional charge of $1155.

If you would like to upgrade to an outside cabin on the cruise there will be an additional cost of $90 per person twin share.

  Itinerary for  Greece and the Greek Islands Tour

03.10.11 Depart Brisbane at 2.00pm on TG 474, arriving in Bangkok at 8.20pm.
Depart Melbourne at 5.05pm on TG 466, arriving in Bangkok at 10.35pm
Depart Sydney at 11.00am on TG 476, arriving in Bangkok at 4.30pm.
All flights will be met at the airport and transferred to the Manhattan hotel in Central Bangkok.

Mid morning  departure from hotel. First we stop at a crocodile farm where we see a wonderful crocodile show followed by an interesting elephant show, which shows how wild elephants are captured and how  elephants have been used in battle. We then move on to the resort hotel in Amphor Maung for a 2 night stay in their deluxe rooms.
In this area you will see authentic Thailand with the people living along the canals in a similar fashion to the way they lived for centuries. Also you can shop where the locals shop and pay local prices.
That evening we will have dinner in a nice restaurant beside the canal followed by a boat trip on the canal and Maeklong  River to see the life  along the canal and the spectacular fireflies.

This morning we will see two interesting temples. First we see a lacquerware temple that is quite beautiful. Next we visit the historic Bangkung Camp Temple with its imposing Buddha statue from the Ayuttaya period. This temple also features a large collection of life-like statues depicting the man positions and moves in Thai Martial arts.
Next we visit a top quality Thai ceramic factory where the quality and artistry is so high that the Thai royal family members ars regular clients.

Morning departure for River Kwai. First of all we visit the beautifully maintained Allied War Cemetery at Kanchanaburi.Then we visit the Jeath War Museum. Then onto the infamous bridge its self. We then have lunch(included), before going on to visit the Buddhist temple, where the monks care for many tigers. You have an opportunity to get a photo of yourself patting one of the "man eating brutes"!
We then travel out to the Burmese border to visit a hill-tribe village of the Mon people. Here we witness a display of traditional Mon dancing and have dinner (included). Accommodation tonight is at the famous Jungle Rafts 'Hotel' floating on the River Kwai. This unique accommodation, however there is no electricity

First we have a long-tail  boat trip on the River Kwai before heading back to Bangkok. En route we visit the world's biggest pagoda & then we arrive in Bangkok.
We will visit a jewellery workshop & showroom. We then proceed to the Manhattan Hotel where we have afternoon use of hotel rooms to relax or to go out shopping in this great shopping city. After dinner  transfer to the Bangkok International airport

Depart Bangkok at 12.25am on TG 946, arriving in Athens at 6.35am. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your Athens hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to start exploring the Greek capital. Later meet your Tour Director  and fellow travelers.

A day to do just as you please. You could also join an optional day cruise to the islands of Argina, Hydra and Poros. In the evening, free time to enjoy the lively atmosphere of the tavernas and nightclubs in the old Plaka district with its narrow streets and sound of bouzouki music.

Athens - Nauplia
Join the included sightseeing tour of Athens featuring the highlights of this ancient capital, visit the Acropolis. Next westward to the Corinth Canal. Journey into Agolics to make a stop in Epidaurus. Visit the open air theatre, which can still seat 14,000 spectators, then head for the coast and overnight in Nauplia

Nauplia - Mycenae - Sparta
This morning enjoy the included excursion with a local guide to Mycenae, a city fortress cursed by the gods but rich in gold and warrior kings. Motor south in the afternoon deep into the Peloponnese to Sparta for overnight.

Sparta - Pylos
Your morning highlight will be the included sightseeing of Mystra, at one time known as "The Florence of the East." In the afternoon an easy and short drive westwards will take you to Pylos, located on a majestic bay on the Messenian gulf.

Pylos - Nestor's Palace - Olympia
Drive north this morning to Nestor's Palace. Your included visit will help you imagine the siege of Troy where Nestor commanded a large fleet. A short stop at Chora Museum will get you acquainted with the splendour of the past. Later travel northwest to Olympia, the legendary venue of the Olympic games, when every four years the city-states engaged in sport instead of war.

Olympia - Patras - Delphi
Focus on Olympia where the athletes of antiquity performed in honour of the King of Deities. Learn more about the history of the Olympic games on the optional sightseeing tour. In the afternoon, drive north to Patras, the capital of the Peloponnese and the west coast's largest port. Then proceed through the picturesque fishing villages along the south coast of the mainland to mythical Delphi.

Optional morning sightseeing in Delphi. In the afternoon drive north by way of Lamia and onto Trikala in Thessaly for an overnight in Kalambaka.

Kalambaka - Meteora - Athens
A short drive to Meteora, which is a cluster of monastic buildings perched in an unforgettable manner on a set of rising rock formations. Your included visit is certainly  the day's highlight. Later drive south via Lamia to Athens for overnight.

Athens - Piraeus - cruising: Mykonos
Late morning embarkation and an afternoon spent cruising in the Aegean. Evening arrival in Mykonos, a granite island and the most typical of the Cyclades. Its cubic houses, windmills and chapels seem to make the island's light even more translucent. Spend some time visiting a taverna or just wandering around the town enjoying its timeless beauty.

Cruising: Kusadasi, Turkey & Patmos, Greece
Two ports of call today. First Kusadasi on the Turkish coast. An optional morning excursion takes you to the fascinating Greek, Roman, and Byzantine excavations of Ephesus. Don't miss this optional, as by seeing the excavation of Ephesus you will see possibly the greatest archaeological site in the world. Next discover the tiny Greek island of Patmos, where St. John the Divine wrote the Revelation.  The 11th century monastery with its valuable manuscript collection is well worth a visit.

Cruising: Rhodes
Dock in Rhodes, largest of the Dodecanese Islands and site of the Colossus of Rhodes, a 105-foot statue destroyed by an earthquake in 224 BC. All day is dedicated to the island of Rhodes. Explore the sights in the historic Old City with its ramparts and palaces built by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. If sightseeing is not your thing, Rhode's sun-drenched beaches and colourful shopping districts are within easy walking distance of the port. Sail from Rhodes around dinner time.

Cruising: Crete and Santorini
Morning at Heraklion on the island of Crete. A few miles away is Knossos, the centre of the 3000 BC. Minoan civilization, and an optional excursion can be booked. Next port of call (weather permitting) is Santorini, the "Black Pearl of the Aegean." The optional shore excursion here takes you up to the cliff-top village of Oia for one of the world's most breathtaking panoramas.

Sydney passengers depart Bangkok at 7.55am on TG 471, arriving in Sydney at 9.00pm.
Melbourne passengers depart Bangkok at  8.10am on TG 461, arriving in Melbourne at 9.20pm.
Brisbane passengers have day use of hotel rooms at the Manhattan Hotel  in the Bangkok.

For the accommodation & return transfers the Brisbane passengers will have to pay an extra $45.00 per person twin share or $70.00 single room.

On the cruise all the following are included;
Buffet breakfasts, Open-air buffet lunches, Multi-course dinners, Captain's welcome cocktail dinner, Greek night dinner, Cabaret show, resident band, disco dancing and casino, port taxes, and on board assistance given by stewards/hostesses.

Accommodation on the boat is in inside cabins. This can be upgraded to outside cabins for an extra $90 per person.

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's Greece & the Greek Islands Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $400.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable in full 10 weeks prior to departure. 
Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.
Insurance - Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.
Passports - All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.
Visas are not required for any of these countries if travelling on an Australian passport.
Basic Tour Price and Taxes -  Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price, therefore, as air taxes and fuel surcharges change regularly the exact amount will be advised at time of invoicing. At present air taxes and fuel levies come to $690 for the standard tour. Total tour cost may therefore change.
Breakaway Fee - All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set  itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.
Not  Included in the Cost - Travel Insurance, visas and all items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary)etc are not included in the cost. Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2 % is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.
Booking through other Agents - As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.
Health and Fitness - Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour. Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service. Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.
Limitation of Liability - As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
