If you don't have a travel partner but wish to travel at twin share rates, we will our best to match you up with someone in the same position, but this is not guaranteed. For a single room there is an additional cost of $490. 

For passengers from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, there will be connecting flights to Sydney for $145 per person return, plus airport taxes.

24.04.10 Sydney & Melbourne - Shanghai
Depart Sydney at 11.20am on MU 562, arriving in Shanghai at 6.30pm.
Depart Melbourne on MU 738 at 11.20am, arriving in Shanghai at 7.00pm.
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your 4 star hotel.

Shanghai
After breakfast, there is the chance to stroll on the Bund overlooking Huangpu River with its backdrop of early 20th century buildings, to visit the former concession areas and narrow streets of the Old Town - Shikumen. Also visit Yuyuan Garden and the Old City Temple. Afterwards you will visit the Oriental Pearl Tower in Pudong area and climb up the second Sphere by lift to have a birds eye view of the city. In the evening you will attend a fabulous Acrobatic Show.

Shanghai - Wuzhen - Hangzhou
You will board the bus to Hangzhou in the morning, on the way, stop over at Wuzhen Watertown, which is located in Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province with a history of over 1,000 years. Of the ancient residential houses, workshops, and stores still standing on the banks of the rivers, 169,600 square metres accounting for 81.54% of the town's total floor area, have remained unchanged, leading an atmosphere of antiquity. Upon arrival in Hangzhou, you will have a city tour and also visit Dragon Well Green Tea Village, where you will be able to purchase some of the best green tea in China. Then transfer to your hotel. In the evening, you can stroll around at Wushan Road where you will find fantastic souvenirs and silk products at a good price.

Hangzhou - Guilin
Relax on a powerful cruise on China's most famous lake, West Lake. See the famous Three Pools reflecting the Moon and Huagang Park. Admire ancient Liu Ho Pagoda. Fly to Guilin in the evening, a city hailed by many as the most beautiful place in China. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to the hotel.

Guilin - Yangshuo
Guilin is one of the must-see destinations for most foreign tourists. Its shapely limestone towers and crystal clear waters are often portrayed in Chinese artworks. Adding to its natural beauty are many fascinating caves. Take a boat cruise trip from Guilin along the Lijiang River for one of the finest excursions on your tour of China. The journey downstream to Yangshuo offers 30 miles of breathtaking scenery. Stroll around at Yangshuo West street. After dinner, you will attend the large scale live performance on the Li River - The Impression Sanjie Liu directed by film director Zhang Yimou, who directed the opening ceremony of  the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Yangshuo - Guilin - Xian
Yangshuo borders the Li River on one side, and is situated on a small plain between numbers of Karst peaks. Two main roads run away from the water and form the central part of the town, Chinese street and West street. Then drive back to Guilin, with sightseeing at the Elephant Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave. The limestone Karst formation in this area is extensively eroded underground and Reed Flute Cave is on of the finest examples of these caves. After dinner you will be transferred to airport for your flight to Xian.  Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast, visit the well-preserved city walls, Grand Mosque and Muslim Street. You will also visit the Shanxi Provincial Museum, one of the best history museums in the nation and majestic Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

In the morning, you will enjoy a full day excursion to the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang guarded by the famous Terracotta Army, 7000 life size clay statues each individually crafted, complete with chariots and horses. You will also visit Banpo Neolithic Villages. In the evening, you will attend a dinner performance of Tang era music and dance at the grand Tang Theatre.

Full day tour will begin at the magnificent Forbidden City, home to emperors for over 500 years. Stroll through Tienanmen Square. After that return to hotel for a rest before dinner followed by a spectacular  Kung Fu (Martial Art) performance in the evening.

In the morning you will leave for your Beijing Alleys Tour. Ride in three wheel rickshaws through Beijing's quaint alleys, experiencing life as a Beijing local. Enjoy lunch with a Beijing family in a traditional four walled home. Witness the splendor of the Summer Palace and the holy Lama Temple once a mission home for a prince and according to tradition converted to a temple after he left. This evening, there will be a Peking Duck banquet.

A full day tour will take you in the grandeur of the Eight Wonder of the World, the Juyongguan Great Wall and also the Ming Tombs. On the way back to the capital, stop to visit the Olympic Stadium (visit inside if it is open to the public by then). Enjoy a farewell buffet banquet in the evening.

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport to fly to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you are met and if time permits, do some last minute shopping in Shanghai. In the afternoon, you are transferred to Shanghai International airport for your flight homeward to Australia.
Melbourne passengers depart on MU 737 from Shanghai at 8.05pm, arriving into Melbourne the next morning at 9.40am (08.05.10).
Sydney passengers depart on MU 561 from Shanghai at 8.05pm, arriving into Sydney at 9.00am the next morning (08.05.10).

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's China Wonder Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable in full 8 weeks prior to departure.

Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance - Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports - All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.  Visas are required for all Australian passport holders to China.  Chinese Visa Application Service Centre (CVASC) charge Australian passport holders $40 visa fee plus application service fee of $38.50 and we charge $20.00 for processing.  Different visa fees apply to non Australian passport holders. 

Basic Tour Price and Taxes - Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price, and as air taxes and fuel levies change regularly  the exact amount will be advised at time of invoicing. At present air taxes and fuel levies come to $240 for the standard tour. Total tour cost may therefore change.

Not  Included in the Cost -  Travel insurance and all items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals (except those specified in the itinerary), etc. are not included in the cost.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Breakaway Fee
All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.

Booking through other Agents - As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.

Health and Fitness -Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Limitation of Liability - As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
