Depart Melbourne at 8.00am on MU 566, arriving in Sydney at 9.30am. Both Sydney and Melbourne passengers depart Sydney at 11.20am on MU 566, arriving in Shanghai at 7.40pm.
You will be met by our Chinese tour guide and transferred to your 4 star hotel by Maglev train (the fastest train in the world) and coach.

Shanghai
After breakfast, there is the chance to stroll on the Bund overlooking the Huangpu River with its backdrop of early 20th century buildings, to visit the former concession areas and narrow streets of the Old Town - Shikumen. Also visit Zhou Enlai Residence. After climbing the Oriental Peral Tower, you will attend a fabulous Acrobatic Show in the evening.

Shanghai - Wuzhen - Hangzhou
You will board the bus to Hangzhou in the morning, on the way, stop over at Wuzhen Watertown, which located in Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, has a history of more than 1,000 years. Of the ancient residential houses, workshops, and stores still standing on the banks of the rivers, 169,600 square metres, accounting for 81.54 percent of the town's total floor area, have remained unchanged, lending an atmosphere of antiquity. Upon arrival in Hangzhou, you will have a city tour and also visit Dragon Well Green Tea Village, where you will be able to purchase some of the best green tea in China. Then transfer to your hotel. In the evening, shop at Wushan Road where you will find many fantastic souvenirs and silk products at a good price.

Relax on a powerful cruise of China's most famous lake, West Lake. See the famous Three Pools Reflecting the Moon and Huagang Park. Admire ancient Liu Ho Pagoda. Enjoy Hangzhou cuisine in the evening.

Hangzhou - Xian
After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Xian.
Upon arrival at Xian, your guide will help you check into your four star hotel. Having your lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, your guide will take you to the Shanxi Provincial Museum, one of the best history museums in the nation and majestic Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

In the morning, you will enjoy a full day excursion to the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang guarded by the famous Terracotta Army, 7000 life size clay statues each individually crafted, complete with chariots and horses. You also visit the Banpo Neolithic Villages. In the evening, you attend a dinner performance of Tang era music and dance at the grand Tang Theatre.

Full-day tour will begin at the magnificent Forbidden City, home to emperors for over 500 years. Stroll through Tiananmen Square. After lunch on to admire the beauty of the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy a spectacular Kungfu (Martial Art) performance in the evening.

In the morning you will leave for your Beijing Alleys Tour. Ride in three wheel rickshaws through Beijing's quaint alleys experiencing life as a Beijing local. Enjoy lunch with a Beijing family in a traditional four walled home. Witness the splendour of the Summer Palace and the Holy Lama Temple once a mansion home for a prince and according to tradition converted to a temple after he left. This evening you are invited to a Peking Duck banquet.

A  full-day tour will take in the grandeur of the Eighth Wonder of the World, The Great Wall and also the Ming Tombs. On the way back to the capital, stop to visit the Olympics Stadium (if it is open to the public by then). Enjoy a farewell buffet banquet in the evening.

Beijing - Sydney
After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you are met and if time permits, do some last minute shopping in Shanghai. In the afternoon, you are transferred to Shanghai international airport for your flight to Australia.
Melbourne and Sydney passengers are leaving Shanghai at 6.20pm on MU 565.
Melbourne passengers are arriving in Melbourne at 7.00am the next morning (03.04.09).
Sydney passengers are arriving in Sydney at 9.30am the next morning (03.04.09).

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travel's China Holiday Special Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure. 

Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance - Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports - All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.
Visas are required for Australian passport holders to China. Visa fee for China is $30.00 and we charge $20.00 for processing.

Not  Included in the Cost - All items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary), etc.
Also travel insurance and departure taxes. Australian airport tax must now be paid with your ticket, and comes to $475 at present.

Health and Fitness - Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour. Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service. Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Booking through other Agents - As we keep the cost of out tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Limitation of Liability - As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
