This morning there
will be a tour of Bangkok's beautiful flower market, followed by a boat
tour of Bangkok's klongs (canals) and the busy Chao Phaya river. You
will see the Royal Barges and the spectacular Temple of Dawn. Next we
visit the factory and showroom of a Jewelery manufacturer. |

Morning free for
shopping in Bangkok. Transfer to Bangkok Airport departing at 1.40pm on
TG 134, arriving in Chiang Rai at 3.00pm. On arrival we inspect Wat
Rong Khun, this white temple is unlike any
of the temples of Thailand. It is a modern masterpiece built by
Chalermchai Kositpipat, a popular artist who dedicated 10 years of his
life to this grand project, in the name of Buddha. It is a modern
project built almost entirely out of white materials and
decorated with small pieces of mirrored glass. We then transfer to the
Rimkok Resort Hotel with its lovely grounds for a two night stay. |

Today we visit the
Queen Mother's beautiful mountain top gardens. Then we travel to the
Golden Triangle area where we have lunch included and inspect the Opium
Museum before returning to Chiang Rai.

Today we have a 3 hour long tailed boat trip on the Kok
River, stopping
en route to visit some hot springs and a second stop to visit a hill
tribe village. We stop at the lovely small town of Thaton in the
Burmese border area where we have lunch. After lunch we join our coach
for the scenic drive to wonderful Chiang Mai, staying at the Centara
Duangatwan Hotel situated in the middle of Chiang Mai's famous night
market for 3 nights. |

Today we witness the
spectacular procession of floral floats, interspersed with great
marching bands. In the afternoon we inspect the floral displays
associated with the Floral Festival. |

In the morning we travel into
the rural
areas to see a display of elephants at work. Then we inspect a
beautiful orchid nursery, followed by lunch. In the evening we will
have traditional Thai Kantoke dinner with a wonderful display of
traditional Thai dancing, followed by a short display of hill-tribe
folk

In the morning we visit Chiang
Mai's
famous handicraft factories, seeing such things as the manufacturing of
jewelery, Thai silk, paper umbrellas, etc. The included lunch is at a
beautiful teakwood restaurant. We then travel to the spectacular
Krista Doi Garden
Resort, which has about 100 acres of gardens and would be one of the
best gardens in the world. After inspecting these we move onto the
beautiful Bella-Vista Garden Resort for an overnight stay. |

Today we commence our journey
back south towards Bangkok. Our first stop is at Lampang where we visit
an interesting Buddhist Temple built in Burmese style. After that we
travel on to visit the Soldier's Temple, which is so breathtakingly
beautiful many consider it to be the most beautiful temple in the
world! Next stop is at Sukothai, Thailand's first capital where we
visit its World Heritage Historical Park dating back to the 14th
century. Then on to Phitsanalook for your overnight stay. |

First we visit Phitsanalook's
large local market. Then we travel south to Lopburi. here we visit the
Monkey Temple where hundreds of monkeys run wild over the temple and
surrounding city. Next we visit a museum situated in a former palace.
We then have lunch in a lovely garden restaurant. Then we travel to
Ayuttaya, Thailand's second capital, where we inspect its World
Heritage Historical Park then on to Bangkok, staying at the Amari Don
Muang Hotel. |

for Cha'am. En route we inspect an interesting temple set in a huge
Natural cave in Petchaburi. We then have lunch at a beach front
restaurant. We then travel on to our near new beach front resort for a

enjoy the facilities of our lovely hotel. We leave the hotel at 2.30pm
and travel to inspect the interesting teakwood palace of King Rama VI.
We then travel to Hua Hin for a short stop at their central shopping
area. Then we travel Hua Hin's historic railway station with its
interesting Royal Box. Next we travel to the night market, where we
spend some time before traveling to a harbour side restaurant for a
lovely seafood and chicken dinner. |

Morning departure to the River
Kwai.
First of all we visit the beautifully kept allied war cemetery at
Kanchanburi. Then onto the infamous bridge itself. We then travel out
to near the Burmese border and visit the famous 'Tiger Temple' where
you can get a photograph of yourself patting these magnificent animals.
We then travel by long-tailed boat along the River Kwai for overnight
accommodation at the Jungle Rafts hotel floating on the River Kwai.
This accommodation is quite unique and beautiful and most people
consider it to be one of the highlights of the tour. However it is
rather basic without electricity. Tonight there is an included dinner
and display of traditional mon dancing. |

Today we travel out to Australian
managed then Hellfire Pass Museum. The energetic will have the
opportunity of walking down to see the actual rail cuttings where so
many Australians died in the construction. We then travel back to
Bangkok where we will have a farewell dinner together. After this we
transfer to Bangkok Airport.
Sydney passengers depart Bangkok at 11.59pm on TG 477, arriving
into
Sydney at 1.20pm. (14.02.11).
Brisbane passengers depart Bangkok at 11:59pm on TG 473, arriving in
Brisbane at 12:05pm (14.02.11). |

Conditions
for Macleay Valley Travel's Chiang Mai Floral Festival
Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of
$200.00 per person is payable within 7 days
of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The
balance is payable in full 8 weeks prior to departure.
Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final
payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from
the airline.
Insurance - Adequate
travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.
Passports - All
travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left
on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a
re-entry visa for Australia.
Visas are not required for Thailand if travelling on an Australian
passport.
Basic Tour Price and Taxes.
Air taxes and Fuel Levies of $430 are included in the basic tour price,
therefore, as air taxes and fuel surcharges change regularly the
exact amount will be advised at time of final payment. Total tour cost
may therefore change by a small amount.
Not Included in the
Cost - All
items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, travel
insurance, excess
baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary),
etc.
Breakaway Fee
All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and
any deviation from the set itinerary will incur a
breakaway fee.
Booking through other Agents
- As we keep the cost of out tours as low as possible, there is
insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel
agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the
other agent's commission.
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any
monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We
are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with
your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to
the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the
credit card companies.
Health and Fitness
Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is
reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.
Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be
accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their
representatives cannot provide this service. Macleay Valley
Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's
participation in the tour under certain circumstances.
Limitation of Liability - As
Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels,
Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other
services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for
death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property
including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation,
accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly
from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of
Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether
declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots,
thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays
or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over
bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's
control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient
passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel,
and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or
responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or
incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the
accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the
amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the
original program.
