This wonderful tour goes off the usual tourist track and is great value, as it includes:
We do our best to match up travelers without partners wishing to travel at twin share rates, but this is not guaranteed. For a single room there is an extra charge of $495.

This tour is unique in that it is a real adventure tour that you can do in relative comfort and visit such areas as the spectacular hill country of N.E. Cambodia and Vietnam central tablelands, where few tourists have ever been.

NOTE: Because of Sydney Airport's curfew Sydney passengers will require a one night stopover in Singapore for an extra cost for accommodation and return transfers of $90 per person twin share and $155 single room.

  Itinerary for Cambodia & South Vietnam Adventure Tour - October 2010

10.10.10 Depart Sydney at 12.20pm on SQ 232, arriving in Singapore at 5.40pm (this flight is usually operated by the A380 Super Jumbo).
Transfer to the Peninsular Excelsior Hotel in central Singapore.
Depart Brisbane at 11.45pm on SQ 246, arriving in Singapore at 5.50am the next morning.

Depart Melbourne at 1.05am (check in by 11.00pm on 10.10.10) on SQ 218, arriving in Singapore at 6.00am.
Sydney passengers will be transferred back to Singapore International Airport.
All passengers depart Singapore at 8.15am on Silk Air MI 601, arriving in Phnom Penh at 9.15am.
Upon arrival at Phnom Penh you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Free time and lunch is at the hotel.
In the afternoon you will visit the Royal Palace - Silver Pagoda and the National Museum. Dinner is at Tonle Basac Restaurant.

Phnom Penh
After breakfast you will visit the Genocide Museum "Tuol Sleng" and the Killing Field "Cheung Ek". Lunch is at the hotel.
In the afternoon you will visit Phsar Tuol Tumpoung (Russian market), Wat Phnom Hill and enjoy a sunset cruise for 1 hour on Chaktomuk River. Dinner is at the hotel.

After breakfast you drive to Battambang province by National Road No.5 (291km). Lunch is at a city restaurant. Arrive around noon at hotel for check-in.

After breakfast you take a morning excursion to Prasat Snoeng and Prasat Phnom Sampev. Lunch is at a city restaurant.
In the afternoon you take a bamboo train (local fabrication moved by motor for small distance transfer 10-20km to village located along railway). Dinner is at a city restaurant.

Battambang - Siem Reap
After breakfast you take a speed boat to Siem Reap (without guide). Boxed lunch on board. Upon arrival in Siem Reap around noon, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will then visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, famous Bayon, Bapuon, Terrace of Elephants and Leper King and Phimean Akas Temple. Dinner is at the hotel.

After breakfast you will explore the World Heritage "Angkor Wat Temple". Lunch is at the hotel.

After breakfast you take an excursion to charming Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre Temple. Lunch is at a city restaurant.
In the afternoon visit the Gate of the Death, Spean Thma, Ta Keo, jungle Ta Prohm, Terrace of Sras Srang and Prasat Kravan. Dinner is at a city restaurant. You will take a traditional Khmer foot massage for 1 hour in the city.

Kampong Thom - Kampong Cham
After breakfast you drive to Kampong Cham province (152km). On the way you stop by and visit the Kuhak Nokor Temple which was built in 11th century and Prasat Wat Prasat Temple. Arrive at Kampong Cham town at noon time. Transfer to hotel and check in. Lunch is at a city restaurant.
In the afternoon you visit Nokor Bachey Temple which was built in the middle of 11th century. After this you will visit Phnom Pros Phom Srey (Male and Female Mountains). Dinner is at a city restaurant.

Kampong Cham - Kratie
After breakfast, continue to Kratie province - Home of Irrawaddy Mekong River Dolphin via National Road No.7 (216km). Arrive at Kratie town at noon and transfer to your hotel. Lunch is at a city restaurant.
In the afternoon you visit Wat Sarsar Muoy Roy (100 columns Pagoda) which was built since Chenla era in a city named Sampopura. You then visit  the rare Irrawaddy River Dolphin - the world endangered fresh water mammal at Kampi. Dinner is a city restaurant.

Kratie - Stung Treng
After breakfast, continue to Stung Treng via old national Road No.7 (141km). Along the road, we visit the ancient houses and villages of hill tribe people. Arrive at noon and transfer to your hotel to check in.
After check in you transfer to the pier and take traditional boat to visit Thala Barivat, pre-Angkorian Temple by crossing Sekong and Mekong Rivers. There you will find Preah Kor Temple, constructed in the late 7th and early 8th centuries. Lunch and dinner is at a city restaurant.

Stung Treng - Rattanakiri
After breakfast you continue to Rattanakiri (151km). Around 10km before reaching provincial town, you have a visit to Teun village which is the Kreung tribe minority village. Arrive at Banlung (provincial town of Rattanakiri) at lunch time and transfer to your hotel for check in.
After you visit the Yeak Laom Lake, the former volcanic eruption around 4,000 years ago with 50m depth where we can relax, swim and enjoy a panoramic view. Lastly visit Eysei Patamak Mountain landscape from atop. Lunch and dinner is at a city restaurant.

Rattanakiri
After breakfast you continue to Andoung Meas district. On the way you visit Pha Oh and Malik - Charai  hill tribe villages. Arrive there at noon. Take a traditional boat trip along Se San River to visit Charai ethnic graves in the forest. On the waterway back, we embark and visit another Tumpun hill tribe village. Arrive at pier and drive back to town. On the way you visit the gem mining zone and Phnom Village to see hill tribe people weaving handicraft. Lunch (picnic on the island along Se San River). Dinner is at the hotel.

Rattanakiri - Ban Me Thuot (Vietnam)
After breakfast you transfer to Oyadav - Le Thanh International Border (Cambodia - Vietnam border) by National Road No.78 (70km). Upon arrival at the border gate proceed through the Vietnamese immigration and customs and meet the Vietnamese Tour Guide. You drive to the town of Pleiku with an interesting visit to a village of Jarai people who have been well known for their colourful culture, especially the graveyard with its statues. You have time to stroll around to explore their customs and culture especially the Wooden Statues of the graveyard. Lunch in in Pleiku.
After lunch you take a beautiful drive through coffee, pepper, teak plantations to Ban Me Thuot with a stop along the way to visit Phu Cuong Waterfall. Arrive in Ban Me Thuot late afternoon. In the evening attend a performance of ethnic dances, songs and gong music in a nearby village (or in the hotel, it depends on the local authority) and join the villagers in drinking local wine (if you are game!). Dinner is at the hotel.

Ban Me Thuot - Dalat
In the morning you visit an EDE hill tribe village and try coffee in Ban Me Thuot, which is considered the coffee capital of Vietnam, then transfer to Lak Lake, there we'll take a scenic boat ride in a traditional dug-out canoe and have a 45 minute elephant ride through the interesting countryside. Lunch in the village then drive through to beautiful, wonderful Dalat a cool mountain resort. Its lakes, waterfall, evergreen forest and gardens make Dalat one of the most enjoyable places in Vietnam. Dinner is at a nice restaurant in town.

Dalat
A short drive to the cable car station for a 15 minute ride with a beautiful view overlooking the pine forest, vegetable gardens, the city of Dalat. Next you visit the Crazy House, Valley of Love, then to a nice embroidery workshop. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Leave the hotel late afternoon for Lat village (12kms from town) to visit the local ethnic minorities and enjoy a 1 hour interesting dance and gong show. Dinner is at a local restaurant.

Dalat - Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
Depart Dalat for Ho Chi Minh City, the largest and most important commercial city of Vietnam. You take another beautiful drive through coffee, tea and rubber plantations. A late lunch in Saigon then check into your hotel. After check-in you take a short walking tour passing the Opera House, City Hall, Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral to orientate the city. Evening is at leisure.

Saigon - Optional tour to My Tho (Mekong)
The day is at leisure.
Optional full day Mekong Delta Tour (including lunch). (we have made this tour optional as clients who have been to Vietnam previously probably would have already done this tour)
An unforgettable day trip into the Mekong Delta. A drive through a new part of Saigon to get on Highway 1 to My Tho. Arrive My Tho, enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong River, stopping at an island to visit fruit orchids and taste some fruit. Continue on small sampans through the canals to see more local life and a ride on a horse carriage, traditional transport of people on the island in the old day, visit to a coconut workshop. After the boat trip visit Vinh Trang, a historical Pagoda in My Tho. Lunch at a bee keeping farm. Return to Ho Chi Minh late afternoon.

Morning is at leisure. For lunch you have Pho (traditional noodle soup) and spring rolls at PHO 2000, where Bill Clinton and his daughter had lunch whilst visiting Vietnam in 2000. After lunch visit the former Presidential Palace (Reunification Palace) and the War Museum and a drive around China Town before being transferred to Saigon Airport.
Depart Saigon at 7.45pm on SQ 185, arriving in Singapore at 10.40pm.
Melbourne passengers depart Singapore at 11.35pm on SQ 237, arriving in Melbourne at 9.55am (31.10.10)

Conditions for Macleay Valley Travels Cambodia & South Vietnam Adventure Tour

Deposits and Payments - A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 per person is payable within 7 days of booking. This deposit is not refundable should you later cancel. The balance is payable 8 weeks prior to departure.

Refunds and Cancellations - Cancellations after final payment will result in a refund limited to whatever we can recoup from the airline.

Insurance - Adequate travel insurance is essential. We can arrange this for you if desired.

Passports - All travellers require a current passport with at least 6 months left on it at the end of the tour. Non-Australian passport holders require a re-entry visa for Australia.
Visas are required for Australian passport holders to Vietnam. Visa fee for Vietnam is $72.00 and we charge $30.00 for processing. Cambodia Visa fee is $45.00 and we charge $30 for processing.

Basic Tour Price and Taxes -Air taxes and fuel levies are included in the basic tour price, and as air taxes and fuel levies change regularly  the exact amount will be advised at time of invoicing. At present air taxes and fuel levies come to $380 for the standard tour. Total tour cost may therefore change.

Not  Included in the Cost -
All items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, drinks, excess baggage, tips, meals, (except those specified in the itinerary), etc.
Also travel insurance and departure taxes.

Breakaway Fee

All fully inclusive prices are based on group travel and any deviation from the set  itinerary will incur a breakaway fee.

Health and Fitness

Macleay Valley Travel recommends that the passenger is reasonably healthy and/or fit to participate in this tour.  Persons with a disability requiring special assistance must be accompanied by a companion. Macleay Valley Travel and their representatives cannot provide this service.  Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to accept/decline or terminate a passenger's participation in the tour under certain circumstances.

Booking through other Agents - As we keep the cost of our tours as low as possible, there is insufficient margin for us to be able to pay commission to other travel agents, so some bookings can only be accepted if the client pays the other agent's commission. 
Macleay Valley Travel is a fully licensed travel agent and as such any monies paid to us are fully insured by the Travel Compensation Fund. We are happy for any prospective traveller with us to check us out with your local Consumer Affairs (fair trading) department.
Similarly, credit card payments can only be accepted if 2% is added to the price to help defray the heavy merchant fees charged to us by the credit card companies.

Limitation of Liability - As Macleay Valley Travel acts only as agent for the Airlines, Hotels, Coach Companies etc., providing accommodation, transportation and other services, Macleay Valley Travel shall not be liable or responsible for death or injury to any person or loss or damage to any property including baggage arising out of or connection with any transportation, accommodation or other services, or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of Government or other authorities, de jure or defacto wars, whether declared or not, hostilities, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, delays or cancellations caused by changes in schedules or itinerary, or over bookings or defaults or for any causes beyond Macleay Valley Travel's control or any loss or damage resulting from improper or insufficient passports, visas or other documents and neither Macleay Valley Travel, and its servants or employees shall be or become liable or responsible for any additional expenses or liability sustained or incurred by the tour member as a result of the foregoing causes.
Macleay Valley Travel reserves the right to modify the itinerary or the accommodation if circumstances make this necessary, provided that the amended itinerary is of equal value or greater value than that of the original program.
